New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes might have been away from baseball for over a year, but that didn’t stop him from hearing all the critics during that time.
As he prepares to make his return for the 2020 season, Cespedes along with Roc Nation Sports put out a video with the caption “New Beginnings”.
The two and a half minute video is filled with criticism from those who cover the sport. A determined Yoenis Cespedes is seen working out, taking BP, all with the hopes of gaining the trust from the Mets fan base.
The video produced by Roc Nation Sports, which signed Cespedes back in 2014, are hoping that this video will do the same for the Cuban slugger, as his scouting video did for him in 2011.
Right before heading to America to play in the big leagues, Cespedes put out a video on YouTube showcasing his talents. A video which helped put more eyes on a 26-year old free agent.
Fast foward to the 2020 season, and Yoenis Cespedes finds himself under tremendous pressure. Not only will he making his return after an injury, but he will be playing for a contract, as he becomes a free agent after the season.
Mets are set to play their first Spring training game against the Cardinals on February 22nd.
