Author Deepak Chopra recently appeared on A Little Late With Lilly Singh, where the chat leads to quoting Tupac.
Hosted by Canadian comedian, Lilly Singh, NBC‘s ‘A Little Late With Lilly Singh’ delivers celebrity interviews with off-the-cuff humor. On December 11, Lilly’s guest was none other than the author and alternative-medicine advocate, Deepak Chopra. Writing more than 80 books, with 21 of them becoming New York Times bestsellers, Deepak clearly knows his field. Along with writing, Deepak works as a clinical professor at the University of California.
Tupac Quotes Held In High Regard
In a short segment of the episode, Lilly Singh not only acknowledges Deepak’s writing but that of Tupac Shakur. Lilly compares Tupac’s writings with Deepak’s, saying that their writing is “similar” and express “great ideas”. Tupac was articulate when he spoke just like a modern-day Shakespearean wordsmith, who always spoke from the heart. The host then plays a game to test her audience’s knowledge of quotes from either ‘Deepak or Tupac’. The audience must choose who the quote belongs to.
Firstly, Lilly starts by reading the quote, “you must find the place inside yourself where nothing is impossible.” This quote originates from Deepak’s 1995 guide, The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success. Continuing with reading out quotes, Lilly reads, “Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside while still alive. Never surrender.” An overwhelming majority of the audience recognized that this was a famous quote from Tupac.
Lastly, after reading another quote from Deepak, Lilly says the next one is a tough one. After building the audience’s anticipation, in true comedic style, she busts out, “Out on bail, fresh out of jail, California dreamin’, Soon as I step on the scene, I’m hearin’ hoochies screamin’.” This, of course, is the start of the second verse of Tupac’s smash hit song, ‘California Love‘.
