If you’re still over looking North Carolina native Toosii, then you better start paying attention as his steady climb to the top is one that will continue as 2020 comes to an end and continue into 2021.
After releasing his ‘Poetic Pain‘ project via South Coast Music Group, the album has debuted at number 17 on the Billboard 200 chart becoming his highest charting album.
Poetic Pain further reveals the 20-year-old’s gift for matching introspective lyrics with unforgettable hooks. Songs like lead single “Sinners Prayer” are hard-hitting, filled with gritty details, yet also uplifting, celebrating Toosii’s hard-won triumphs. “Poetic Pain. My pain is a work of art. It’s equivalent to poetry,” says Toosii. “It’s a beautiful thing and it describes me.”
Along with the new project is three music videos, one of which was released this past Friday (September 25). Directed by Toosii’s frequent collaborator Edgar Esteves, the cinematic visuals for “Sinner Prayer” finds Toosii alone on a barren street, creating a stark backdrop for the charisma that the Raleigh, NC, rapper brings to his music.
Shot in Los Angeles at night, the video is another haunting, stirring statement from one of rap’s most exciting young voices. Shining in the glow of streetlights, Toosii walks us through his world. He’s alone but doesn’t need anybody else.
