Timbaland might have redefined the meaning of throw back Thursday with his own musical genius twist.
The multi talented rapper, song writer, and producer, has been part of many successful songs. Working with artists such as Justin Timberlake, Aaliyah, Madonna, Drake, and Nelly Furtado to name a few.
On Timbaland’s Instagram throw back Thursday posts, the hit producer applies his beats behind vocals of legends past and present. Some of which he never had the chance to work with.
This would be true with Timbaland’s latest remix which did not come on throw back Thursday, but rather on Tupac Tuesday. The beat for Tupac’s “Pain” verse, is spot on, when it comes to the emotional production to match Tupac’s passion.
“They’ll never take me alive, I’m gettin’ high with my four-five / Cocked on these suckas, time to die / Even as a youngster causin’ ruckus on the back of the bus / I was a fool all through high school, kickin’ up dust,” raps Tupac.
Another artist he was unable to work with is the Notorious B.I.G. On this mix Timbaland did his own version to the song “Warning”. “I know Hip Hop has evolved, so much, but if you a true Biggie fan, like I am. Something about his vocals, made me come up with great production,” says Timbaland.
“Who the f*** is this? Paging me at 5:46 / In the morning, crack of dawn and / Now I’m yawning, wipe the cold out my eye / See who’s this paging me and why?” Biggie is heard over Timbaland’s beat.
No problem for Timbo on this Jay-Z tribute
Dropped on Jay-Z’s 50th birthday, Timbaland pays tribute to Hov with a remix of Jay’s “99 Problems“. Jay-Z spits, “I got the rap patrol on the gat patrol / Foes that want ta make sure my casket’s closed / Rap critics that say he’s “Money Cash Hoes” / I’m from the hood, stupid? what type of facts are those?”
The beat goes hard on this one, with much of Instagram giving the approval. Including Hip Hop artist Obie Trice, commenting with, “Timbo the great.”
Timbaland’s versatile musical abilities has always been on full display. Working with various artists from all types of genres. Timbaland delivered what he calls a “special” remix on thanksgiving.
Whitney Houston’s verse on “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is felt on this slow Timaland beat. You’re lying to yourself if you didn’t drop a tear after hearing this one.
“Clock strikes upon the hour / And the sun begins to fade / Still enough time to figure out / How to chase my blues away,” Whitney.
