Legendary DJ Tim Westwood is facing allegations on social media of inappropriate behavior towards student fans.
The allegations against 62-year-old Hip Hop DJ, Tim Westwood, came after an unnamed woman posted messages on Twitter. In doing so, she revealed details of a four-year relationship with the DJ. In subsequent tweets, the woman spoke about how Westwood used his power to get whatever he wanted from females.
Tim Westwood began his career with local radio before joining Capital Radio in London. He would later host his own Hip Hop show on BBC Radio 1. As a result, Westwood’s rap show catapulted him to become the UK’s leading Hip Hop DJ respected throughout the world. Guests to appear on his show include Eminem, The Outlawz, 50 Cent, The Game and Wu-Tang. Since his years with Radio 1, Westwood has gone back to his roots with Capital.
In addition to the Twitter campaign, a petition on the Change.org site called for a launch of an investigation. Tim Westwood has vigorously denied all allegations and says that it’s all fabricated. “I can categorically say that I have never had an inappropriate relationship with anyone under the age of eighteen. I’m aware of attempts by anonymous sources to make fabricated allegations online. I can confirm that such allegations are false and without any foundation.”
A spokeswoman speaking on behalf of Tim Westwood confirmed a member of blocked Twitter users to prevent false allegations disturbing the DJ’s Saturday show. She said; “It’s important to clarify a member of Tim’s team blocked a Twitter account so the offensive allegations wouldn’t disturb the show. This was not approved, and was an error of judgment by this individual and nothing to do with anyone at Capital XTRA.”
