On episode 21, we welcome philosopher Dag Herbjornsrud to learn about the exclusion of marginalized groups in the standard philosophical cannon, the African origins of Christian thought, and how one can become immortalized through their literature.
We’re taught that the history of philosophy is mainly comprised of white, male intellectuals, but modern-day philosophers are increasingly challenging that theory.
Dag Herbjornsrud is an historian and scholar of the history of intellectual thought, and he argues that women and ethnic groups around the world were major contributors to our present knowledge of the universe and human nature. On this episode, he recounts how that history was suppressed and colonized by powerful white men, and how we can regain our knowledge of our history’s hidden contributions and learn from their deep wisdom.
