Story Behind Snoop Dogg's Throwback Video & Tupac's Euthanasia Chain

Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to share a rare video of himself and Tupac Shakur. The caption for the video read 2AMW in reference to his hit single with Tupac, Americaz Most Wanted.

Tupac would feature Snoop Dogg on his Death Row records debut album ‘All Eyez On Me’, on the hit single Americaz Most Wanted. “Now give me fifty feet / Defeat is not my destiny, release me to the streets / And keep whatever’s left of me / Jealousy is misery, sufferin’ is greed / Better be prepared when you cowards f*** with me,” Tupac.


In the video Tupac and Snoop Dogg can be seen as they prepare for the 1996 MTV Music Awards. The awards which was held in New York, also had Snoop and Tupac present an award that night.

What was the meaning of Tupac’s Euthanasia chain?

The throwback clip shows Tupac wearing his Euthanasia chain. The chain represented Tupac’s record label that never came into fruition. When asked by an MTV reporter about the chain Tupac said, “I’m trying to bring 1989 back, I was broke in ‘89. Plus, they had me in jail for a year for a crime I didn’t commit. They locked me in chains so I’ma put on a chain.”

Money issues and Tupac’s passing would prevent Tupac from creating his label titled Euthanasia record label. As explained by Tupac’s former personal assistant Kendrick Wells Tupac’s purpose for the label was a way to give back. “He really wanted to do some positive stuff,” says Kendrick. ” That was gonna be positive. It was gonna be connected to community things. He really saw himself going on the edge as an artist this way. So, he wanted to give back this way.”
