At the REVOLT summit in LA on Saturday by Top Dawg Entertainment, the West Coast legend, Snoop Doggy made a bold statement by claiming that TDE is a better version of Death Row Records.
President of Top Dawg Entertainment, Punch, was very humble and please to hear the Dog Father complementing their label “TDE”. In a tweet, Punch said, “Snoop Dogg sat on stage in a room full of ppl and said,, we (TDE) are a better version of Death Row Records. Humbled”.
Back in 2013, Snoop Dogg would go on to explain the differences between Death Row records of the nineties from TDE. “We was (messing) people up. We was determined to be the hardest, meanest, baddest coldest, roughest, toughest in the game. That was our mission,” explains Snoop to Vibe.
TDE on the other hand, is portraying a different image. “Top Dawg Entertainment — they peaceful. They love, they get down. They got rappers from everywhere. And they represent hip-hop. They don’t represent negativity and violence,” said Snoop.
Snoop Dogg anticipates the lessons learned because of his time with Death Row Records would pave the way for TDE. This would enable TDE to take a different approach to hip hop, which would in time allow them to stay in the game for many years to come.
