On episode 29, Alen and Leon speak on Optimism Vs. Pessimism. They explore the benefits and downsides of optimistic and pessimistic thinking, how to cultivate healthier thinking patterns, and share their personal story of their podcast journey.
Optimistic thinking is defined as feeling too hopeful about one’s life, despite evidence to the contrary. Pessimism is feeling too hopeless about one’s future, despite positive aspects of one’s character and environment.
“Naturally pessimist,” says Leon. “It’s partially generic, and then it’s also partially s*** from my childhood, because eh whatever stuff that I talked about in writing, pretty much in past episodes. Life was kinda shitty when I was kid. So, then I was like oh great so like everybody kinda sucks and the world is pretty shitty. My kind of thinking was influenced by that, and then depression runs in my family. So for me to actually change my way of thinking, I actually have to work on it.”
What’s the way of thinking that allows you to live your best life? The answer might be unexpected.
