During his signature Joprah Moment segment, Fat Joe didn’t shy away from asking Nick Cannon about his beef with Eminem, in which Cannon gladly detailed on IG live and would also confirm Mariah Carey’s upcoming memoir that will detail her past relationship with Eminem.
“I don’t really know he and my ex-wife had going on. I think she has a new book coming out and she’s talking about it in there,” Cannon said on The Fat Joe Show. “She’s doing an exclusive memoir.”
Initially Cannon and still till this day is a fan of Eminem. “I’ve always been an Eminem fan. The artist is somebody that I feel is super skilled,” Nick Cannon said. “He’s good for the culture, been good for the culture, been good to the culture.” Where things went left, according to Nick, is when Mariah told Cannon about Eminem disrespecting her.
At this point Cannon had no choice but to stand up for his wife. “As a husband, I gotta protect my wife at any cost. Its on. But we didn’t really think anything of it, but dude [Eminem] came out with a crazy record just blatantly disrespecting.”
Back in 2009, Eminem touched on his relationship with Mariah in the song ‘Bagpipes From Baghdad‘. Taking shots at then husband, Nick Cannon, where Eminem rapped, “Mariah, what’s ever happened to us, why did we have to break up? All I asked for was a glass of punch / You see, I never really ask for much / I can’t imagine what’s going through your mind after such / A nasty breakup with that Latin hunk / Luis Miguel, Nick Cannon better back the f*** up / I’m not playin’, I want to bag ya punk.”
To make matters worst, Cannon states that he wanted to speak to Eminem face-to-face, an invitation in which Eminem declined. “How you gonna say some wild sh-t and you don’t wanna talk to me. Now that’s even triple disrespectful,” Cannon said.
Mariah Carey would then return the favor with he own song dedicated to Eminem titled ‘Obsessed’. In the music video, Mariah would also dress up as Slim Shady.
This is where Eminem would not hesitate to create another moment, “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note / But that other dude’s whipped-that p—y got him neutered,” Eminem on ‘Lord Above’ song. “Tried to tell him this chick’s a nut job before he got his jewels clipped / Almost got my caboose kicked / Fool, quit / You not gonna do s–t / I let her chop my balls off too before I lose to you, Nick.”
After dropping multiple diss records and inviting Eminem to his then Wild N’ Out show, Nick Cannon once again was unable to have that one-on-one face off with Slim Shady.
But, what Cannon was able to achieve was propelling Wild N’ Outs ratings. “I was it as an opportunity to promote Wild N’ Out,” Cannon explained. “The ratings went up. We went to number one off that, so we appreciate it.”
