The UK can certainly look forward to more Hip Hop legends performing, as the Gods of Rap tour returns with Nas headlining the tour.
Hip Hop heavyweight Nas will headline a star studied tour which includes DMX, The Lox and Gang Starr. It’s not the first time a concert of this type has graced British stages. In 2019, the Gods of Rap UK tour saw Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul and Public Enemy perform.
With twenty-eight years in music and 30 million records sold worldwide, Nas is one of the genres most successful. The return of DMX sees the troubled rappers first appearance in the UK for 15 years. After experiencing huge success in the late 90s, DMX fell into a downward spiral of drink and drugs. As a result, the Baltimore born rapper checked himself into rehab to kick the addiction. Above all, fans are excited to see DMX perform hits like ‘Party Up’ and ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’.
Hip hop group The Lox, composed of members, Styles P, Sheek Louch and Jadakiss are also performing some of their biggest hits. First signing with Bad Boy Records in 1995, The Lox, similarly to Nas, have represented the East Coast style to the fullest. Releasing three studio albums, they’ve collaborated with Mariah Carey, Biggie Smalls and Jennifer Lopez to name a few.
Finally, last years God of Rap host, DJ Premier, will perform under the Gang Starr name, a duo which included deceased rapper Guru. Furthermore, when talking to Music Week, DJ Premier revealed future plans of having Guru maybe perform and interact on screen. “I have loads and loads and loads of live performances of pretty much our whole catalogue in different cities and the audio from his voice. I could actually have him perform and really be saying the lines and he’ll have different clothes on from the different places that we performed.”
Tickets for Gods of Rap II are due to go on sale Friday, January 31, with prices to be confirmed.
