Megan Thee Stallion Wins Artist Of The Year, Lil Baby Robbed?

At the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards Megan Thee Stallion took home Hip Hop Artist of the Year beating Lil Baby who many felt should have won.

Tuesday night (October 27) BET aired their 2020 Hip Hop Awards which did not go without controversy. Many fans felt Lil Baby was robbed as he lost to Megan Thee Stallion for Hip Hop Artist of the Year. Other nominees up for the award were Drake, DaBaby, Future, and Roddy Ricch.

Excited about taking home three awards which included Hustler of the Year and Best Collaboration, Megan went on IG and wrote the following in a caption, “HipHop Artist of the year , Hustler of the year , Best collaboration 🔥🔥🔥🔥 LETS GO HOTTIES REAL MF HOTGIRL SHIT 😛😛😛 thank you @bet.”

Many are left to wonder if this years headlines helped Megan Thee Stallion to secure the award. Tory Lanez and Megan The Stallion has been a hot story for the past four months ever since the shooting incident. Most award shows go with whichever artist is a hot topic and will make sure to have that artist go home with the most awards, ensuring the award show to trend.

Not taking away from Hot Girl Meg as she has had a successful year, but there is no denying Lil Baby has been consistent throughout the year as well.

In 2020 Megan dropped her EP “Suga” which peaked at number 7 on the Billboard 200 and Lil Baby’s My Turn peaked at number 1. My turn is also the highest streaming album of 2020.

Some of the other highlights for Lil Baby in 2020 consisted of:

  • Tied Paul McCartney for Billboard Hot 100 Hits
  • Spent five weeks at #1 with My Turn on the Billboard 200 after returning to the charts 3 months later from its initial release
  • In total spent 5 weeks at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart (tying Taylor Swift for most weeks atop the list in 2020)

Megan has been linked to many top singles including WAP with Cardi B and the Savage Remix featuring Beyoncé.
