LL Cool J Recalls Kobe’s Rap Album, Last Time He Saw Him

Hip Hop icon LL Cool J recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight

LL Cool J also recalls the last time he saw Kobe Bryant. “The last time I saw him was when Michelle Obama was at the forum promoting her book. He was like inviting me to like come to the house, saying ‘Yo come on down. Nobody will bother you’. We just had a great moment.”

The forum LL Cool J is referring to is the one which took place on November 13, 2018 in Chicago. Michelle Obama was promoting her new book titled “Becoming”.

Besides his love and passion for the game of basketball, Kobe Bryant also had his eyes set on the world of Hip Hop. At one point Kobe would go on to complete a full album. To the surprise of LL Cool J, this wasn’t just an album, it was a “gangsta rap” album.

“We talked about rap. He played me this album, this gangsta rap album and I was like, ‘Kobe,’ I said, ‘Come on, dog. That’s not what you need to be doing,'” LL Cool J tells ET. “He had a gangster rap album. He played me that album, we’re sitting in a parking lot. I was confused, I was sittin’ there like, ‘What are we doing? You got endorsements, what are you doing?’ It had to be the funniest moment of my life, listening to him do gangster rap.”

Ironically Hip Hop is what helped Kobe Bryant meet his future wife, Vanessa Bryant. During the 1999 shooting of “G’d Up” music video by Tha Eastsidaz, Kobe would meet Vanessa.
