Celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon Mixtape, his estate has teamed up with okidoki to bring fans a live visual album experience.
Slated for 2021, with an official date to be announced in the up coming days, the official Instagram account for Nipsey Hussle made the announcement Monday (December 21).
“Today marks 10 years since the release of #TheMarathon. A project our team holds near and dear to our hearts for many reasons. It represents the story of Nipsey’s resilience and unwavering faith in his mission, and the authenticity and honesty in his message,” read the caption on Instagram.
The mixtape kicked off the Marathon brand that “gave fruit to many other branches that Nipsey architected”, as stated on the official Nipsey Hussle IG account.
Featuring the likes of Kokane, Mars of 1500 or Nothin’, and MBMT, The Marathon mixtape, Nipsey released the tape around the time he was attempting to leave EPIC records so he can become an independent artist.
Along with the caption, is a video by okidoki previewing what to expect from the visual experience. “In commemoration of this anniversary we’re proud to announce our collaborative effort with @okidoki to bring to life an interactive live visual album experience coming in 2021. The experience will give viewers and intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece. The people, the places, the stories, and more. Stay tuned, official drop date coming soon!,” reads the closing statement via the IG caption.
