Only rapping for about three years, Lil Baby has reached the top of the charts with his sophomore album “My Turn”. Did his success happen over night?
Released on February 28, Lil Baby’s second studio album pulled in 188,165 album-equivalent units. The result gives Lil Baby the number one album in the country, according to Hits Daily Double.
This success didn’t happen over night, well actually it kinda did. Shortly after his release from prison, Lil Baby decided to turn his attention to music career in Hip Hop. After creating his first song, Lil Baby wasn’t feeling it.
But, things would change months later, after he would hit the studio with a friend of his. Not something uncommon, but one this particular day, Lil Baby was set on giving rapping another shot. “Engineer found me somebody I can buy a beat from, and then I just tried it,” said Lil Baby on Ebro In The Morning.
“First day I tried it, I put a snippet on my Instagram. Then Gucci Mane come in like Ima sign you,” explains Lil Baby. “Then from then it was like different little blogs got it, and I was rapper overnight.”
What didn’t happen for Lil Baby was delivering. “From the beginning, even when I first started rapping, I was saying this isn’t me. This isn’t my swag,” said Lil Baby. “So, overtime that’s what I was aiming for.”
Recenntly Lil Baby dropped his latest music video for the single “Forever” which featured Lil Wayne.
