Lucas is living proof that dreams do come true, and despite obstacles, hard work will eventually pay off. Even it means doing so an independent artist in 2020.
With his debut album “ADHD“, Joyner Lucas was able to inspire many and also touch one person in particular who he looked up to in Will Smith. Humbled and honored by the tribute song ‘Will’, Lucas couldn’t believe the response he received from his idol.
For Joyner Lucas it was a dream come true, as he took to Instagram and reposted Will Smith’s reaction video to the tribute song. Captioning the video with, “Is this real life??? Bruh I need to take a cold shower and wake up. I’m dreaming right now.”
Now Lucas is witnessing the success of his hard work, as his album has topped the charts. Joyner Lucas via his Instagram account posted a screenshot of his album hitting the number 10 spot on the Billboard 200.
“I don’t focus on charts and reviews, however I appreciate all my fans all over the world! I Made @itunes #1 rap album in the world and @billboard charts top #10 album in the world across all genres,” wrote Lucas in the caption.
Lucas also took note of himself being the only indy artist on the list. Which prompted a message to all independent artists who ever think about giving up. “Also noticed I was the only independent artist on the list. To all the indie artist that are constantly pushing through the struggle to one day make it, just know it’s possible. As an artist and the co-founder of @tullyapp I plan on leading by example. #ADHD out now.”
