Have you ever wanted to have that blue check next to your Instagram account? Sure you have. That blue check we have seen with every popular celebrity account. For long many have tried hard and dedicated their days trying to gain millions of followers, hoping it would result in the fancy blue check. This isn’t necessarily the case. The amount of followers you may have does not guarantee you the blue check so many desperately yearn for.
Instagram has now made it easier to apply for the blue check but that does not mean it is easier to obtain one. You can now apply for the blue check on the Instagram app itself. Once a request is made Instagram will review the request and determine to confirm the request or deny it.
In a statement Instagram explains the importance of the “blue check”, “The blue verified badge is an important way for you to know that the account you are interacting with is the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity. Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app.”
Before you begin the verification process there’s some things you should know. In order to be considered for the blue check the Instagram account must comply with Instagram’s Terms Of Service and Community Guidelines. Part of the verification review, Instagram will evaluate your account for “authenticity, uniqueness, completeness and notability“. What does that all really meaning?
Authentic: Your account must represent a real person, registered business or entity.
Unique: Your account must be the unique presence of the person or business it represents. Only one account per person or business may be verified, with exceptions for language-specific accounts. We don’t verify general interest accounts (example: @puppymemes).
Complete: Your account must be public and have a bio, profile photo and at least one post. Your profile can’t contain “add me” links to other social media services.
Notable: Your account must represent a well-known, highly searched for person, brand or entity. We review accounts that are featured in multiple news sources, and we don’t consider paid or promotional content as sources for review.
