Talented Bay Area artist Hurricane Chris has been reportedly indicted by a Caddo Parish grand jury and is facing a second-degree murder charge.
KSLA 12 news has reported the rapper who’s real name is Christopher Dooley was charged in connection to a the killing of 32-year-old Danzeria Jerris back in June of 2020. The man was shot in the chest, hip and stomach outside of a Shreveport convivence store stated officers who were called on to the scene.
Dooley was arrested on June 19 and was later released on $500K. The rapper claims he shot the 32-year-old in self-defense after an altercation that occurred over a vehicle.
In a video post after his release, Hurricane Chris thanked everyone for his support and claimed his innocence. “Hello world, hello world, hello world. I’m sure you got the news by now. I was involved in a very unfortunate incident on Friday morning, a very unfortunate incident. I’m wanna thank everybody who’s been praying for the family of the deceased and everybody who’s been praying for my family. After a good, thorough investigation, my name will be cleared. Let God work, watch God work. God bless. Thank you,” said Chris in the video.
The rapper released his debut album at the age of 18, entitled 51/50 Ratchet. The album’s debut single was his 2007 hit “A Bay Bay.” The popular track was remixed by artists like The Game, Lil Boosie, and E-40.
