After dropping his his third studio album “Artist 2.0”, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie stops by Big Boy TV.
New York native, A Boogie would go to top the Billboard 200 with his second studio album “Hoodie SZN”. Reaching the number one spot, A boogie realizes it’s not all about numbers.
Delivering a quality album from start to finish is by far his main focus. “It doesn’t matter how many hits you got. I feel like the body work gotta be a real good album. Some people just go straight for numbers,” says A Boogie. “You gotta make people happy. You gotta treat the fans good.”
“It is expectations and your surroundings. There’s always people around you trying to push you to the limit. I thank my team for that.” Working on the new album for nearly a year, A Boogie definitely felt the pressure. Recording hundreds of songs, with only twenty songs make the final cut.
Not an easy task, especially when as an artist you have to cut songs with other artists expecting to make the album. “I called one person and told them yeah they’re gonna be on the deluxe, cause I told them they was gonna be on the album. But, there’s a couple of people I feel bad that I didn’t put on the album, especially my man Durk.”
Perhaps down the road A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie will release some of those features, but until then he also has his eyes set on potential artist he has yet to work with. Artists such as Cardi B.
Back in May of 2019, Cardi B replied to a tweet in which a fan suggested A Boogie and Hip Hop‘s top female artist, linked up and did a song. Cardi B co-signed the tweet by saying, “Very soon”.
Since then nothing has come of the tweet, but A Boogie believes in time it will. “It’s in the works,” says A Boogie. “I reached out to her. We always show love. We from the same neighborhood, so we gotta treat it like that.”
