On Thursday (October 29), rapper Lil Wayne became the latest Hip Hop artist to show his support for President Donald Trump, as the two met face-to-face.
“Just had a great meeting with (President Donald Trump) besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership,” he tweeted, along with a photo of himself with Trump. “He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”
Deputy press secretary Judd Deere told ABC News that the meeting was held at the Trump National Doral Miami resort.
Although Wayne did not specifically state he was voting for Trump, this “endorsement” days before the election comes as a shock to many. Earlier this month Ice Cube received backlash for collaborating with the Trump administration for his Contract With Black America. 50 Cent also made headlines when he told his Instagram followers he was not happy with Joe Biden’s tax plan and was voting for Trump. Since then 50 Cent has told ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler he was only “screwing around” when he made those comments. (Watch: Chelsea Handler: 50 Cent Absolutely Supports Biden)
As expected Wayne has received backlash within the Hip Hop community, including 50 Cent. “oh no 👀 WAYNE🤦♂️, I WOULD HAVE NEVER TOOK THIS PICTURE. #bransoncognac#lecheminduroi,” 50 wrote on an Instagram caption.
