21 Savage Overstays His Visa, Faces Deportation
26-year-old Atlanta based rapper 21 Savage was arrested for overstaying U.S visa and consequently faces deportation just weeks before the Grammy Awards. A Grammy Awards show which he is up for two nominations.
The Atlanta resident’s real name is Sha Yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph. He is facing charges of being in the US illegally. According to reports his visa expired back in July 2006. Many fans were under the impression he was born and raised in Atlanta. However, new information suggests that his birthplace is actually Newham in London.
Earlier last year 21 Savage did an interview with Seth Rogen and announced that his birthplace was actually Atlanta, Georgia. However a spokesperson for ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) said “His whole public persona is false. He actually came to the US from the UK as a teen and overstayed his visa”.
21 Savage debut, ‘The Slaughter Tape’ mixtape, dropped back in 2015. While his latest album released in December 2018 ‘I Am > I Was‘ debuted at No.1 on the Billboard 100 chart. The lead single ‘A Lot’ features J. Cole.
