Do you smell what The Rock is cooking? Well apparently 200 million Instagram followers do, and now Dwayne Johnson is the most followed American on the social media platform.
Sharing the news on his official IG account The Rock thanked his supporters. “Tidal wave of quiet support surging past 200 MILLION followers on IG. 300M+ total across all platforms. #1 Most followed man in America. (and #1 daddy at home;) Love you guys and thank you! Let’s keep building and putting in the hard work 🖤🙏🏾🇺🇸💪🏾.”
Weeks after announces his support for Presidential nominee Joe Biden, The Rock does not regret one bit of it. Johnson received backlash from Trump supporters. Even long time WWE wrestling fans and fans of his movies stated they would unfollow him. But, with that came a wave of followers. “I spoke my truth with a little poise, dignity & respect and here’s the result,” wrote The Rock in his caption.
Back in June of 2020, The Rock used another social media platform in Twitter asking the President of the United States “Where are you?” via a heartfelt video. “Where is our leader at this time. At this time when our country is down on its knees begging, pleading, hurt, angry, frustrated, in pain, begging and pleading with its arms out. Just wanting to be heard,” asked The Rock. Former WWE Superstar Nikki Bella also smells what The Rock is cooking, as she received “political” backlash from Trump supporters when she promoted her friend Hiram Garcia‘s photography book which featured photos of The Rock.
Despite the rough couple of weeks Dwayne Johnson is grateful for the millions of followers. “Officially the most followed man in America 🇺🇸🙏🏾What a past few weeks. At times very loud & spicy 🌶😜.”
